INFORMATION EDUCATION & COMMUNICATION (IEC)

MDACS organizes various activities under Information, Education and Communication (IEC) for creating awareness among the general population on HIV/AIDS.  IEC activities focus on risk reduction, improving knowledge about HIV and sexually transmitted infections and reducing stigma and discrimination towards people living with HIV.

The various media used for creating awareness are :

  1. Mass Media : Theatre, Radio, Print Media, Social Media i.e. Facebook, Instagram
  2. Outdoor Media : Advertisement on Buses, Rickshaw, Railway platform & Hoardings.
  3. Printing Material : Posters, Leaflet, Stickers, Flip Charts, Brochures, Booklet.
  4. Events organised on occasion of World AIDS Day, Voluntary Blood Donor Day, International Youth Day & National Youth Day.
  5. Confidential Tele- counselling through Saadhan Helpline- 022-2411 4000.

 

 

YOUTH INTERVENTION :

Red Ribbon Club (RRC)

In Mumbai, RRCs have been formed in 125 degree colleges with NSS to spread awareness on HIV Prevention & to promote Voluntary Blood Donation among Youth.

Adolescence Education Program (AEP)

In collaboration with Education Dept. of MCGM, MDACS is implementing AEP in 183 MCGM Schools through the trained teachers. Approx. 17000 students studying in IXth std. are covered through Information & Life Skills Sessions.
